World Public Prize “Peacemaker”

Peace throughout the world, the making of peace in the name of the continuation of life on the planet, creativity as the affirmation of universal human values and of the preservation of existing civilisation. In contemporary conditions these words have ceased to be merely beautiful slogans. They reflect the concern of an ever greater number of people living in different countries with questions of survival, of the preservation of the material, spiritual, personally and socially significant acquisitions of humanity.

Wars, epidemics, hunger, destitution, ecological barbarism, the growth of aggressive manifestations of racial and national injustice — a threatening list of challenges to all people, on all continents. Common problems have no borders. For common problems there are only common solutions.

How can a reasonable person withstand the growing threat of self-destruction? What can reconcile people with themselves, with the irreversible consequences of the technogenic destruction of the planet? What paths exist for uniting all forces that strive for the harmony and prosperity of the population of the Earth?

PEACEMAKING is a movement gathering strength in all countries, uniting honest people of pure heart of different nationalities who daily and everywhere give their knowledge, soul and energy for the good of the affirmation of Good and Justice.

In the Explanatory Dictionary of the Living Great Russian Language of V. I. Dahl is found the definition of the ancient tradition of reconciliation, of the making of peace:

To make peace — to reconcile, to bring into agreement, to settle, to remove discord and enmity, causing all to be done amicably.

People who bring reconciliation, in any conflict in all times, have been called with respect and hope — PEACEMAKER, PEACEMAKER (feminine).

The idea of establishing the World Public Prize “PEACEMAKER” was born of the striving to strengthen international peacemaking traditions, to broaden the experience of the humanistic activity of outstanding people of the world community, to support the norms of tolerance and mutually beneficial dialogue between countries and generations.
